Tough Decision? Don't make it just yet!

Someone probably once gave you this advice: “Don’t make your decision now, sleep on it!”

And they were right, probably without knowing the real reason why it works.

Neuroscience studies have shown that our unconscious never sleeps and when we are asleep it keeps thinking process going, focusing on the problems that have no solutions. When we are awake, new ideas penetrate our conscious mind, giving us new insights that we never thought.

But what if ‘to sleep on it’ is not an option and a decision has to be made today?

TIP OF THE DAY:

To imitate the sleeping process and give your unconscious mind some time to think, you need to make your conscious mind busy, focusing on something completely unrelated to the problem at hand.

Everything will work: business meeting, that will take your full attention; or an intense workout; a lunch with someone who will keep you occupied with interesting conversation.

Get back to your difficult decision after 2 or 3 hours, I am sure by that time your unconscious mind will prompt you with some very original thoughts.
